Craig Clemons is a Materials Research Engineer in the Engineered Composite Sciences group at the USDA Forest Service, Forest Products Laboratory (FPL) in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Automotive Engineering Department at Clemson University. Dr. Clemons received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, M.S. in Forestry, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science all from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For over 30 years, he has worked at FPL developing composite materials from polymers and wood-derived materials. His research focuses on: 1) the understanding and optimizing the influences of constituent materials, 2) developing and optimizing composite preparation methods, and 3) relating microstructure and morphology to composite behavior. Dr. Clemons has written over 100 scientific papers on composites from polymers and wood-derived materials and has given many presentations on the subject. He is the past Chair of the International Conference on Woodfiber-Plastic Composites and serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Renewable Materials.
